Boston Town joint-manager Ian Dunn has challenged his three main strikers to score 20 goals each in the United Counties League Premier Division this season following the signing of Liam Nimmo.
Dunn believes a good start will be crucial for Town and says his squad is almost complete.
Nimmo, 28, scored the only goal in the Poachers’ 1-0 win over Peterborough Sports on Saturday after signing alongside experienced defender Mark Thompson.
“We’ve got three strikers (Nimmo, Josh Ford and Mickey Stones) who can get 20 goals each,” said Dunn.
“That can then propel us up the league into a position that we could have been in last season.
“Nimmo, like Thompson, came through the Grimsby youth ranks and has great experience at UCL level and higher. He’s a clever player and will get us goals.
“Thompson’s a player we’ve wanted from day one so it’s great to finally have him signed up.”
Meanwhile, the opening UCL fixtures have been unveiled. Town will face title favourites Spalding twice before October, as well as games against highly-fancied Wisbech and AFC Rushden & Diamonds in September.
“It’s going to be a tough start with lots of tests before Christmas, like last season,” said Dunn. “It’s always important to get a good start and last season we didn’t really have that”.
Maltby, teenager Frazer Bayliss and 0llie Pinner are expected to sign deals with the club soon.
